Simple Strategies On How To Efficiently Improve Your House

Repair Fair by Ars Electronica

In my world of automotive repair I talk a lot about Automotive Technician Certification or ASE Certification.

Since I bought our shop I've been making a stir in our local area and some don't understand exactly how it can affect them. So I'm here to explain exactly that and hopefully you will be able to take this knowledge and pass it on to YOUR friends and family as well as protect yourself next time you have your vehicles repaired or serviced...NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE AT OR WHERE YOU GO.......

What I've been stressing is simply this....your hairdresser, doctor, dentist, groomer for your pets, etc....have to have a LICENSE/CERTIFICATION to do

their jobs. They have to pass a series of tests to cut your hair or see you, and they are held by strict standards set by the state, etc.

But, YOUR MECHANIC DOES NOT have to have a license to work on your vehicle - plain and simple - and THIS is what the Auto Repair Industry has hidden from the consumer FOR YEARS and they don't want you to know.

Everyone from the dealerships to independent shops have MANY within those shops that have NEVER been trained to do the job they are doing.

More often then not many have gained their experience working on their own vehicles or friends vehicles from their garages....but are now gaining MORE experience on YOUR vehicle. (Kind of "On The Job Training!")

How do repair shops and dealerships get away with this - it's fairly simple. I have driven all over the country and have seen many shops - (especially the ones that love to advertise the $13.00 oil changes) with ASE Certification in their windows.

While you are there they tell you ALL kinds of things THEY THINK are wrong with your car. MOST of those people aren't even trained TO KNOW what to look for, nonetheless tell you it needs fixing. How can they get

away with ASE advertising?

Here is How:

ASE has STRICT Testing you must take to be considered certified. But there is a glitch...they have a total of 8 different tests.

1.Engine Repair

2.Automatic Transmission/Trans Axel

3.Manual Drive train/Axel

4.Suspension & Steering

5.Brakes

6.Electrical/Electronic Systems

7.Heating & Air Conditioning

8.Engine Performance

All that one shop has to do is have ONE of his technicians pass ONE test to advertise as being ASE CERTIFIED! After that one test is passed ASE allows you to advertise assuming your being honest about what you can and cannot do as far as repairs are concerned!

Where is the danger? Well if that ONE tech could only pass ONE test - lets say for Brakes - the shop is advertising ASE and tells you that you need a new transmission - how would they know what they were talking about? They are only certified for brakes!

What happens is that most consumers see the ASE Certification in the windows of shops or on their yellow book advertising and think that everyone within the building is certified to work on your vehicle - that couldn't be further from the truth. (Also is the certification CURRENT?)

At one time when my husband was working at a local shop before we opened our business - he was the ONLY ONE within the shop that was certified!

Not the owner, manager, and NONE of the techs held a certificate. The techs had only gotten their experience from working on cars at their own houses! My husband ended up showing these goofballs on a daily basis how to fix the cars and do you think they cared or appreciated it? Heck no - they were still making their money off you with no thoughts as to what may or may not happen to you after you left.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say - well then I'll just sue them if something goes wrong with my repair or turn them into the BBB or Bureau of Automotive Repair - aka BAR.

First off - that's fine as long as your okay to do that after getting on the freeway at 75+mph and having your car fail. Second - most suits don't even get to a settlement because YOU signed Okaying the repair and they count on that.

AND the shop HAD the certificate hanging on the wall clearly showing you that only ONE of their techs were certified and that was for ONLY brakes and since there is no standard that they HAVE TO FOLLOW then it falls back into your lap.

The next thing I love to see that makes me laugh and feel bad for those that don't know is when I go into lets say the dealership or chain repair store. They LOVE to have all kinds of certificates hanging on the walls - but notice they aren't ASE...they say "store" trained - well that's nice. Most of those places don't just sell that ONE make and model of a vehicle - and how many times have you purchased an extended warranty? Or the chain store....they say that THEY trained them....okay and who knows what they are doing? (They Who?!)

Why am I so passionate about ASE - it is because those tests are across the board for EVERY make and model of a car. Now lets think about that for a minute. How many makes and models of cars are there out there?

THOUSANDS.

That's why MANY cannot PASS MOST of those tests -they are HARD. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HARD! Brakes are one of the easiest because brakes can be pretty standard.....sometimes. But transmissions, engine repair - etc. ??? That my friend is a whole different story.

If you are in the chain store or dealership look for the ASE certificates and LOOK for what they are REALLY trained for - I think you'll be surprised.

(Did you know?.....Dealerships Techs ONLY get training when the Dealership is willing to pay additionally for training - SURPRISE!)

The other way they get away with it? How often do you know that the person actually working on your vehicle is trained? Do you get to meet him? Talk to him? Nope. You just assume that EVERYONE back there is trained and all is well. Can you ask for someone trained to be working on your vehicle - sure you can ask - but you don't really know for sure -because if everyone asked, nothing would get done!

Most times there isn't anyone that's actually qualified to do the job or they don't have enough people trained at all......

Another reason many don't care if they employ certified ASE mechanics is because they are EXPENSIVE. Testing is expensive for the technician if they have to pay for it themselves and they are expensive for the shops. A guy that's trained means having to pay MORE money to hire and keep him on staff.

To keep up with industry standards with machinery, training, etc is VERY COSTLY - I know. But YOU don't know if they have the latest equipment or not - or if they have trained people on staff AND no one is checking to make sure....it's always kind of been left up to YOU.

Unfortunately the ONLY time you find out these harsh facts is when something does go wrong and by that time it's too late. You're out either a vehicle or lots of money on a repair that NEVER fixed what you

brought it in for.

I don't know about you but I think that's PRETTY SCARY!

You can check out any time the ASE standards and see for yourself how many repair shops have gotten around a great organization to make it appear like they are apart of something great when they really aren't - not to the degree that YOU think they are.

Ask to see their certificates - make sure they are current and not expired.

To have a "Master Technician" in any shop is rare. What is a Master Technician? That is someone who not only took the tests listed but passed them ALL...not just one.

Again, ONE MASTER technician in ANY shop is rare not to mention ANYONE who has adequate training. How about the owner being trained - again most aren't but they are running the business ...... odd don't you think that THEY don't know about the very thing they say they specialize in?

So now you know and it is up to all of us to hold these unethical shops accountable.

Together - we can all put a stop to unethical repairs and shops out there that don't care about you or your SAFETY.

One more story before I let you go:

True story by the way......

An elderly woman on limited income went in to get a transmission flush at a local shop where we live. They took the pan down threw some metal shavings into it - went out into the waiting room and told her she needed a new transmission. She just now went from a $69.95 job to a $1700.00 job. They cleaned up the bottom of the pan - cleaned off the transmission - sprayed a little spray paint on it to make it look new - did the flush ONLY and a few days later gave her car back. Same old transmission - and made close to $1730.00 profit.

She had originally come in with the great little "coupons" you get in the fliers every week in the mail for a transmission flush special....aka (bait) and she

was taken advantage of hook, line and sinker.

This is why I do what I do now - I advertise that they don't have ASE Certificates - I advertise how they get away with it if they do and I tell anyone who will listen what I've seen and how to avoid the pain of being taken advantage of in the auto repair world.

Be safe out there!

Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO) - Exactly What Helps Make Penny Stocks Such A Great Investment? - Penny Stocks Forum

It might appear a little crazy, and yet with the surge in penny stocks in recent years; some typical people have been able to pocket serious bucks on just one or two trades - obtaining stocks for pennies and selling them for real dollars.

I know, it may seem a little too fantastic to be true, but don't think for a minute that it's not occurring pretty much daily. We have witnessed hundreds upon hundreds of companies whose stock has languished at ten or twenty cents (or even at fractions of a penny), that suddenly spiked to 2, 3 or (seriously) 10 or 20 times that price - literally in days.

Don't believe me? For confirmation, Take a brief second to check out a couple of these stocks yourself, for a case in point Sunpeaks Ventures, Inc.. (SNPK). When you type in that ticker right into your preferred finance site, and look at a historic chart for say four months or so; you'll notice right off that this company's stock was just $.43 or 43 cents a share near mid March, then leaped amazingly as high as .40 in only a couple of weeks. It doesn't take a lot of math to figure out that just 0 would've changed into almost 00 in only just a matter of weeks. This is the reason everyday people today are able to afford to leave their jobs and just trade one or two penny stocks a month, while having the capability to pay all their bills and live comfortably.

By performing a little due diligence, you can realize great earnings in penny stocks; and it's not your typical long term investment strategy like when investing in blue chip style stocks. The big stock investors can get a %5 increase in a week's time ( This is a wonderful week for them), but if you can invest 0 - earning wouldn't make you jump for joy... best you can do with that type of gain is go to a movie... by yourself!

Simillar to with every other investment, keep in mind penny stock trading includes risks, but think of this: when you can invest $500 in a penny stock and quite possibly turn that small investment into thousands within weeks (and I don't mean 52 weeks) - the risk/reward ratio weighs immensely in your favor. Then again, you could invest in nice "safe" blue chip companies and maybe see a gain of a couple hundred bucks a year.. that's if you don't invest in top of the line blue chips like Tyco, Enron or Adelphia...lol.

As a matter of fact, right now, we are looking a company known as Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO). This stock has gone from being pretty much dormant to trading over a million shares last Thursday. The price continued to be steady all day on Thursday, even with the heavy trading (staying at $.10 per share), but on Friday - that started to change a bit (with the closing price at $.135 or 13 1/2 cents per share in 1 day). At the time of this writing, the stock is continuing to climb today (7/23/12) climbing to just under $.15 per share. What to take serious notice of with this company is it's basic principles; a good team, good product mix and revenue!

None of the companies mentioned in this article have paid for promotion or investor awareness - they are mentioned for reference points only. Any investor is strongly encouraged to conduct their own due diligence before deciding to trade on Any investment. The writer is not a qualified investment advisor, broker or financial planner. Home Appliance Repair Guidelines For Success And Safety

Appliance Repair in MIDLOTHIAN, IL by appliancehub

Repainting is an inexpensive way to modernize a dated appliance or to coordinate the colors of your appliances with your kitchen's color scheme. It is a relatively easy process. Here's how to use appliance paint to give your kitchen or laundry room appliances a new look.

1. Choose the right paint. Be sure to purchase appliance paint especially formulated to paint household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, and dishwashers. These paints are not for use on or near surfaces that get hot, such as stove tops. For those surfaces, be sure to purchase a heat-resistant paint. Also there are specialty appliance paints for resurfacing the inside of a microwave.

Appliance paint comes in brush-on and spray-on versions. Spray-on paint is best if you are planning to repaint the entire appliance, while brush-on paint is preferable it you are touching up chips or dents.

At the same time you purchase your paint, buy any other equipment you will need such as spray paint applicators, brushes, tarps, masking tape. And don't forget safety equipment, such as gloves, masks and goggles. You can purchase appliance paint at most hardware or home improvement stores.

2. Read the instructions for the appliance paint you've chosen carefully before starting your project.

3. Unplug the appliance and move it to a well-ventilated area. A garage or outdoors is ideal, but if you have to paint the appliance indoors, be sure that it is in an area where you can open windows or doors. Wherever you plan to paint it, there should be plenty of room around the appliance so that you can move freely and easily access all surfaces. Place the appliance on a tarp or on newspaper to protect the floor.

4. Clean all appliance surfaces well with soap and water to remove dirt, grease and dust. If there is any rust on the surface, remove it and treat the area with a rust deterrent product. Be sure the appliance is completely dry before you start to paint.

5. Use masking tape to cover any parts of the appliance that you do not want to paint.

6. If you are using spray paint, apply the paint with a fluid, sweeping motion. You might start with a light mist of paint that barely covers the entire surface, followed by a second, even layer on top of this base. Let the paint dry thoroughly, then apply a second coat if desired.

If your appliance just needs a touch up not an entire facelift you can use appliance paint to cover scratches, chips or worn areas. The process is similar to painting the entire surface. Be sure to clean the area to be painted thoroughly, apply a thin layer of paint, let it dry thoroughly then paint again if necessary.

Simple Ways On How To Efficiently Improve Your House

Appliance Repair In Chandler by aabcosvc

Sears and the Environmental Protection Agency have announced that the retailer will be working with the EPA to offer recycling services for refrigerators and freezers. Sears is joining the EPA's Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) program, an effort to properly and safely take care of appliances that contain chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) which destroy ozone and trap greenhouse gases in our atmosphere.

EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson stated in the release, "When consumers buy new fridges and freezers from Sears, they can rest assured that the ozone-depleting chemicals in their old appliances will be disposed of properly." Mark Good, the general manager of Sears Home Services, the division of the company that will be in charge of the recycling program, made a similar statement. "Sears Home Services is excited about being the first retailer to partner with the EPA in its Responsible Appliance Disposal Program." He continued by explaining that Sears led the industry in developing energy-efficient appliances so the recycling program was a "natural extension of that."

The RAD program will ensure that refrigerants and other chemicals involved in the foam that insulates refrigerators and freezers will be recovered in a safe manner that will prevent CFCs and HFCs from escaping and damaging the environment. Additionally, the RAD program will also recycle or dispose of other substances that may be harmful if released, such as mercury, oil, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). PCBs are known carcinogens that do not break down naturally in the environment.

The RAD program is just one of several partnerships between the EPA and retailers and manufacturers to protect the ozone layer. Another program is the GreenChill Program, which is a partnership with the supermarket industry to adopt new advanced refrigeration technologies. The goals of the GreenChill program are much the same as the RAD program, in that CFCs, HFCs and greenhouse gases may be mitigated through safer handling and more responsible stewardship. CFCs can break down the ozone molecule, which in turn allows more ultraviolet radiation to reach the Earth. The increased UV rays increase the incidence of skin cancer, as well as harming crops and marine life.

The EPA estimates that over ten million refrigerators and freezers are disposed of every year. The RAD partnership hopes to take care of at least one million of those. In addition to refrigerators and freezers, window air-conditioning units and dehumidifiers also contain ozone-depleting substances (ODS). The EPA is inviting other businesses to join the RAD program, offering assistance in recycling technologies as well as recognition for the effort.

Smile Got You Down? Top Tips For Cosmetic Dentistry!

Sponsored by Cosmetic Dentist Los Angeles You do not want to have to worry about stained teeth when you meet new people. The first thing they will see is your smile. Thankfully, many techniques for teeth whitening exist. The information provided in the following article should help you make an informed decision when it comes to whitening your teeth.

It is important to make sure you not only brush, but also floss your teeth at least twice per day. You need to prevent plaque from building up so that your teeth don't become discolored. Pay special attention to your nighttime flossing sessions. If you don't do a thorough job, you'll leave plaque on your teeth overnight.

Go to your dentist to see if you have any cavities before you whiten your teeth. If you do have dental issues, take care when considering a whitening technique. Check with your dentist to find out if it is wise for you to undergo teeth whitening and, if so, how to go about it.

Keep your breath fresh for whiter teeth. First, determine whether or not you have bad breath by licking your clean palm. If you detect an odor, freshen your breath with a mint or mouthwash. If you go with mouthwash, be sure to pick a brand that is alcohol free to avoid the drying properties of alcohol based mouthwashes.

Include plenty of dairy products in your diet. Dairy products have minerals, such as calcium, that will keep your teeth looking healthy. These nutrients, like calcium, also help build up the protective enamel on your teeth which prevents discoloration and cavities. When you included these food types into your diet you give yourself a whiter smile.

Instead of buying expensive products at the store, look for homeopathic tooth whitening remedies in your own yard. This wonder product is walnut tree bark. Pluck some bark from a tree, wash it off and scrub it against your teeth prior to brushing. This helps remove plaque and stains.

No matter how many times you bleach your teeth, your crowns will not whiten. When use whitening products, it will have an effect on natural teeth but not your crowns.

Use fresh lemons as a way to get your teeth whiter naturally. All you need to do it get a lemon peel and gently rub on your teeth every day until you get the results you are looking for. This is a fast, cheap, and easy way to make your teeth whiter. Lemon peels will give you white teeth with no harsh chemicals.

Whitening gels are available to whiten your teeth. You can find these gels at most drug stores, and they cost next to nothing when compared to the price of a professional teeth whitening procedure. Although sometimes if your teeth have bad enough stains, a dentist may be your only option.

There is no need to have yellow stained teeth anymore. There are many ways you can brighten your teeth. Home whitening kits make whitening your teeth easy and quick. You do not have to go to a dental procedure to get the white smile you really want.
